Really nice flow, love how you brought me into your meditation. Thank you for this quiet reflection.

This calming and emptying of my cup is necessary for me to hear and receive the message God (you say Universe) is sending my way. It is good to focus outside of myself and see the bigger picture.

Trauma and coercion kept me isolated and fearful most of my life. It took a lot of effort, time and help to free myself. We do not walk this earth detached and isolated from all that is around us, we are part of the whole.

Agreed! And I feel that many are healing from these trauma wounds, and those of us who are called to write, we are doing so as a form of resistance to all that would silence us, and as a way back to self (both outside and inside) we are finding our way here. I use ‘Universe’ because it’s more universal and because of the trauma coercion cycles so rampant on this planet, ‘God’ as a word has been weaponized and used in ways that created harm. So I sub out that word. But it’s the same thing. ✨

I know what you mean. I still use God in my contexts to help people move away from the traditional stereotypes, especially in America. In my Cherokee heritage, that which is greater than ourselves and encompasses all life and death, is Unetlanvhi or Galvladi'ehi. But God is not the issue here; we are, our experiences and the choices we make. In this, I am in full agreement with you.

This is a lovely and gentle reminder of the power in a pause... the power in a breath. We can change those difficult feelings by observing this. Thanks for writing this - I'll share it in one of my roundup newsletters. Best wishes John

Thanks for your supportive comment and considering to include it in your newsletter. I’m truly touched and honored! ☺️

I never know if what I’m finding helpful is also helpful to someone else and your kind words are a light on my path!

I love this so much. There's so much focus on breath work in the general mindfulness and healing arena, but I think all that emphasis can make it feel clinical and like a task to check off sometimes. Remembering the why behind it is so crucial. Thanks for the reminder =)

It’s so true. For a long time I just rolled my eyes with how emphasized it is these days- almost to the point as to become cliché. And I wondered when this came through and I posted it, if I was just repeating it yet again! But then I remembered that since it literally came through me because I was struggling with this, then it might also be a nice reflection for someone else as well. I really appreciate your validation. Because sometimes we don’t know if what we write is actually helpful! 🙏

trauma happened because it came on too fast, too strong, too out of control.

Liver this take on trauma

My therapist told me this the other day. It made me realize why we stay stuck in the trauma response pattern so long. It’s simple and yet not at all!
