only a breath away
a channeled message about how trauma pulls you out of harmony with life and how to get back again
you know how the deepest thoughts happen while doing the simplest chores?
for me it happened while washing the dishes. i was contemplating how reactive i can easily become when life feels like a lot (which is a lot of the time!) and especially with a history of trauma.
it’s then that this channeled message came through. Its timing was a perfect reminder for me, and hopefully you’ll find it helpful too!
there is no rush.
when the mind starts to spiral, caught in extremes, in ride-or-die thinking, remember this: trauma happened because it came on too fast, too strong, too out of control.
that’s what makes it trauma.
the mind can unconsciously recreate the feeling of being out of control simply because it’s familiar. that black-and-white way of seeing a situation is the trauma response itself, running the nervous system like an old program.
here is where the sacred pause can be a healing and beautiful practice.
the word practice carries grace. it’s not about getting it right, but about showing up again and again.
to practice mindfulness, or pausing, is simply to notice, breathe, and return, as many times as it takes.
when we practice this way, the nervous system, that once braced for danger, learns a new rhythm, one of calm, safety, and presence.
the breath is not just how the body takes in oxygen.
it’s how we touch the universe, a quiet rhythm of giving and receiving, both simple and nourishing.
presence exists as a dance between the universal soul and the individual soul currently inhabiting a body.
breathing floods the blood with the oxygen it needs, but, most importantly, the breath is how the human being remains anchored in the present moment.
so when you are in a trauma response, neurologically you will notice there is a lack of breath.
there is a holding and restriction to this flow that doesn’t let the breath of life play you like the sweet instrument that you are.
for your soul is the heart strings for the universal consciousness to play upon.
in moments of fight or flight, the trauma response pulls you out of harmony with life, as though a tear opens in the invisible fabric that connects you to everything.
your breath loses its natural rhythm, and stress hormones surge through the body, readying you for danger that may no longer be here.
fear not, for everything you feel you’ve lost still lives just beyond the walls the mind built to keep you safe.
you are so close, truly only ever a breath away from sinking into the quiet, steadiness of presence itself.
so breathe, precious child of my heart. you were always right here with me all along.
love,
~the universe

Really nice flow, love how you brought me into your meditation. Thank you for this quiet reflection.
This calming and emptying of my cup is necessary for me to hear and receive the message God (you say Universe) is sending my way. It is good to focus outside of myself and see the bigger picture.
Trauma and coercion kept me isolated and fearful most of my life. It took a lot of effort, time and help to free myself. We do not walk this earth detached and isolated from all that is around us, we are part of the whole.
This is a lovely and gentle reminder of the power in a pause... the power in a breath. We can change those difficult feelings by observing this. Thanks for writing this - I'll share it in one of my roundup newsletters. Best wishes John
